The
Institute will be staffed by visiting and resident teaching staff
whom we will appoint over the next few months. Three professors will
be supported by a range of administrative and technical
support staff.
The masterslevel programme will be taught by the project mode,
with emphasis on integrating practical skills and theoretical understanding.
The programme is residential, and great importance is placed on teamwork
and the creation of a reflective and creative community. The Institute's
location in Ivrea, with a hall of residence nearby, provides the ideal
environment for this. The Institute will also develop a research studio;
this will attract collaborators from industry, governmental and city
agencies.
We are building a team
of senior people who have experience of interaction design at a high
level and come from a range of different backgrounds such as design,
technology, human sciences and media studies. The Institute is a new
venture, and this is a unique opportunity to join the team that will
shape its future. Each professor will also be responsible for the
coordination of a different aspect of the Institute's work.
Professors will do both research and teaching; a proportion of their
time will be allocated for consultancy. The ideal candidates will
have experience of project-based teaching at postgraduate level.
If you are interested in learning more about the positions described
here, or would like to recommend someone, please contact Leah Caplan,

Tutors will be responsible
for the progress of a group of students, for elements of the taught
course, and for supervising students' projects. They will take part
in the research projects of the Institute, and develop collaborations
with companies and organisations beyond the Institute. They should
have experience in the practice of interaction design.
Technical tutors
will help students acquire technical skills such as programming, electronics,
video, prototyping, and also support them with advice about carrying
out their projects. These posts could be part-time.
Visiting professors
will teach particular parts of the programme. If you feel you could
contribute to the design, technology or business innovation strands
of the programme, we would like to hear from you. (Please contact
