Back to Ivrea Home

Interaction Ivrea is an independent non-profit institution, supported by Associate Companies. Our founding Associate Companies are Telecom Italia and Olivetti.

Ivrea's Director and Steering Committee are world authorities in the field of interaction design. Our Director founded and ran the world's first graduate course in the subject.

They are supported by a board of expert advisers, known as the 'Explorers' Club'. From John Maeda to Ettore Sottsass, these are eminent people with impeccable design credentials.

The academic staff consists of resident professors and tutors plus visiting lecturers. We expect our academics to be doing their own work, setting the design and research agendas for the future, as well as running projects and tutoring students.
WHO IS INVOLVED?

Sabbatical fellows will undertake a variety of research projects. As interaction design is as yet so fluid and undefined, many designers have projects they have been waiting for the opportunity to pursue. Ivrea can give them the chance to do so.

Graduate students will take the Diploma Course - a two-year programme in Interaction design. We expect that the students will come from a variety of disciplines: art and design, software and hardware engineering, media studies, human factors, economics.

Support staff will provide the necessary back-up. A community steward will organise social events; a systems manager will keep our network running; technical tutors will help students build their prototypes; and so on.
