December 2000: Preview
The Institute's first event: on December16 and17, members of the Explorers' Club and an illustrious group of experts from around the world – many of them potential collaborators – come together to brainstorm the issues and opportunities for the Institute's first years. On 18 December, they are joined by a larger group of interested specialists and journalists for a briefing and a tour of the building.

December 2000: New Website
Begininng 18 December, a new version of www.interaction–ivrea.com will become the principal communication point for anyone wishing to contact the Institute. Beginning February 2001, a regular e–mail newsletter will be published.

December 2000: Recruit Professors
A worldwide search has started to find three professors who will lead the academic and research programmes of the Institute, in conjunction with its Director. One professor will be to be responsible for the teaching programme, one for technology transfer and research, and the third for communication of the Institute's work.

January-June 2001: Recruit Students
Starting January 2001, applications will be solicited from students wishing to join the two–year postgraduate Diploma Course; the first students arrive at the Institute in October 2001.

February-December 2001: Professional Development Workshops
The Institute is inviting proposals for sabbatical projects and visiting fellowships. One format is a workshop of 14 days in which a group of professionals will develop a concept from idea, to project proposal.

April 2001: Easter Student Workshop
Potential students will be invited to participate in live activities. These include design clinics for groups to evaluate new products or services whose concept or interaction design is causing difficulty.

June 2001: Explorers' Club
The annual meeting of the Explorers Club takes place in June. The Explorers' Club brings together experts from around the world who are at the forefront of a particular aspect of this exciting new subject. Its members will meet for three days to challenge us to explore: new directions, new subjects, new people, and new approaches.
