In addition to the Diploma Course, the Institute
will run a collaborative design research laboratory. Research projects
will be funded from outside sources including private companies,
government and EU project funding. Joint projects are envisaged
with companies and other institutions in the ICT field.
Its first proposal, which is awaiting evaluation,
is a collaboration with an electronics company and a furniture company,
looking into physical interfaces for communications services in
the home.
The Institute proposes to build on Italy's
strengths in design, so the first projects will be chosen from the
following broad topics. Others may be suggested by our collaborators.
All these topics will be underpinned by particular ITC infrastructures
and service concepts.
