Requirements

Able to organise a teaching programme, coordinate staff, student workloads, timetabling etc.

Able to design short courses and workshops.

Experienced in project-based teaching.

Able to design project briefs to carry a variety of pedagogic aims simultaneously.

Able to support and coordinate visiting practitioners with little or no teaching experience.

Able to supervise the workplans both of students and junior staff.

Able to enthuse students and staff while still demanding a great deal from them.

Able to administer the programme in a way that is fair and gives equal opportunity to all.

Responsibilities

Welfare of the students and their progress on the course.
Day-to-day administration of diploma teaching programme and short courses, timetables, etc.
Implement a lean and effective quality-maintenance system.
Manage teaching staff, their programme of work and career development.
Coordinate student trips.
Coordinate internships.
Maintaining links with other teaching institutions.

This professor will also have:

Tutorial responsibility for a group of students.
Academic responsibility for a section of the curriculum.
Participation in a research project.

This professor will be responsible for an eventual team of:

Visiting professors (responsible for teaching short courses and workshops)
Tutors (responsible for teaching on the course and the progress of particular student groups)
Student administrator
Student software support
Student hardware support

Professor of Interaction Design responsible for
Design and Technology Innovation Projects

Requirements

An inventive and visionary designer/researcher.

Able to design research projects which connect the potential of emerging technologies with innovative service ideas.

Able to write successful project funding proposals which are stimulating and provocative as well as useful.

Imaginative in knowledge transfer - help different constituencies make use of the research of the Institute.

Well-informed about technology today and future trends
Experienced in project-based teaching.

Able to enthuse students and staff while still demanding a great deal from them.

Able to communicate technical topics to non-technical people
Able to administer the research programme in a way that is fair and gives equal opportunity to all..

This professor will be responsible for an eventual team (dependent on research funding) of:

Project leaders
Senior project coordinator responsible for contracts, outsourcing, project administration, etc
Research secretary

Responsibilities

Day-to-day organisation of the research studios
Organising internal events such as seminars
Implementing a lean and effective research review system
Finding sources of funding and new initiatives
Working out the project and business plans for new initiatives
Coordinating research proposals and grant applications
Guiding the fledgling products/companies
Connecting them to potential companies or sources of startup capital
Overseeing intellectual-property issues.
This professor will also have:
Tutorial responsibility for a group of students
Academic responsibility for a section of the curriculum
Participation in a research project.

Professor of Interaction Design responsible for
Communications and Knowledge Sharing

Requirements

Good writing and editorial skills and/or good web and information design skills.

Genuine passion to communicate.

Web publishing and development expertise
Media background.

Understanding of communication and media theory desirable.

Fluent and effective English.

Responsibilities

Ensure the work of students and staff is effectively and widely disseminated
Organise events, colloquia, seminars, etc.
Organise exhibitions/displays in the building
Organise the publishing programme of the Institute
Public and press relations
Website management: design/editorial/programming
Manage the dissemination staff, their programme of work and career development
Manage the procurement of outside specialists such as: exhibition design and audio-visual support.
This professor will also have:
Tutorial responsibility for a group of students
Academic responsibility for a section of the curriculum
Participation in a research project.

This professor will lead an eventual team of:

Community steward
Librarian and database manager
Web master
Editor/writer
